My family loves Maine- specifically York Beach, near Cape Neddick. I have the best memories of spending time there with my enjoying the best that York beach has to offer. We all stay in this picturesque beach house,that sat on a rocky cliff above the Atlantic. It’s ALL sprawling beaches and stress free greenscapes combined with fantastic seafood (two words: LOBSTER ROLLS). York Beach was the perfect getaway for us, complete with practically no Internet or cell service. We would take real time for each other and enjoy the quality moments we shared.  An added bonus? The small boardwalk nearby had an amazing skee-ball set up! It’s a sweet relief from the tweets, status updates and ‘check ins’ that populate my everyday city life.  Must get back to York Beach, STAT.

Summer of 85 my family rented a log cabin in the mountains of Big Canoe near North Georgia. I earned my first freckles there pond fishing with my dad, diving for pool sticks & pedal boating with my sister. I also got my first splinter ever there. My dad had to bribe me with homemade strawberry ice cream from the general store to get me to sit down to squeeze it out. Later he rewarded me with a stack of glitter jelly bracelets for being so brave. I still have them in my keepsake treasure box and when I stumble across them they remind me of those carefree days of youth — days starting in plastic clip barrettes & culottes and ending with clorinated eyes & footie pajamas.

On the beach in fire island one weekend, a guy came passing around flyers around 3pm (to a hot body contest a town over. My cousin who is absolutely crazy, lol saw it and said "omg we have to go, I'm winning that 1,000 dollars!!" let's go!!". My sister happened to be in town for the weekend and is a little nuts herself. We all pick up our stuff and go straight to this place for the contest. My cousin signs up NOT only herself but my sister and I ALSO!! I was FREAKING out! I have total stage fright. I am downing the fire island known drink "rocket fuel" to make myself TRY and relax to WALK THE STAGE. Omgomgomg. In line with so many girls..I beg the guy with the mic doing introductions to let my sis and I go together  please, please...10 seconds later the MOST mortifying moment of my life you hear..."HERE COME THE MARCHESE SISTERS!!" I nearly died. I froze. We had to pick one of the three...hula-hoop, trivia question OR dance! I picked trivia question of course...my sis hula-hooped her ass off (PRICELESS). All this said and done...we didn’t win (LOLING) but we left winners laughing the whole walk home.

When I was 16 I moved to Sorrento, on Italy's Bay of Naples, for six months. A wonderfully diverse town, it was a hive of fun and activity, where the sun beat down day after day. After working at Emporio Armani for the first months of my trip I remained a boy of leisure. One afternoon we I a group of Italian guys and girls after swimming in the aquamarine sea. Later that evening they joined myself and a group of friends for dinner, where we all cooked a different dish to eat - ranging from roasted egg plant to fresh pasta with even fresher local fish. We drank and ate the night away to the sounds of the mid-2000s and that remains a perfect summer memory!

A few years ago I went camping with my girlfriend up north and we took her grandfathers motorized canoe up the lake. It was my first time on a motorized canoe and by the time we finally hit the 5km mark we flooded the engine and it just stopped working on us.

 It started to get dark and we had no idea how to make this engine start up again. So being the gentleman that I am, I rowed the whole way back to the cottage in the dark. It was kind of stressful being in the dark and all, but we took the opportunity to bond and tell jokes.  It felt like I was rowing forever and my hands had calluses all over them. What turned into a bad experience ended up being one of the best summer moment of my life.

California Feelin'

The hippy movements, the Beach Boys’ songs, the movies like the Gidget series or the Endless Summer are all factors in the myth of Hawaii, California and the surf culture.

Sundek, a Californian bathing suit company, jumps onto this hip surfing trend and concentrates its efforts in creating strong, easy to dry and fashionable swim shorts.  Surfing becomes THE life style and soon the beaches were crowded with Sudenk’s latest icon: a rainbow across the back of the swim shorts.  Sundek immediately became known as the sun brand, thanks to its flaming logo resembles the waves on the ocean.
